"The Keystone Cops Are At It Again" From Charlie's Soap-Box
For the last couple of months the bulk of this nation's interest has been centered on one issue, the economy. The war in Iraq and almost everything else has been back-burnered as the media's latest feeding frenzy focuses on the unholy coalition between the greedy Wall Street big shots, the downright sloth of a once great banking industry and the total inefficiency of an out of control, inept bunch of power-hungry politicians who lack the will or the ability to deal with our fiscal problems before or after the crash. Congress' standard answer to anything is to throw money at it and that's what they did this time, starting with a seven hundred billion plus dollar bailout of the banking bunch, in a basically fruitless effort to get the economic ship sailing again and in their usual impotence, started a never ending domino effect of American companies with their hands out wanting tax dollars as a reward for bad business practices and making products that nobody wants. It doesn't take a degree in economics to figure out that a company who has more retirees than active workers on their payroll is not going to make it no matter how many Band-Aids the government tapes on. I hate to say it, but in my humble opinion, we are going to see some huge old-line American companies either restructure or simply go out of business. For decades we have sat back in America and let foreign interests move into our backyard and take away a large share of the American market share. If you don't believe that, just look at the strides the Japanese car makers have made, the amount of products that are imported from China, the factories that have been moved just across the Mexican border and the millions of jobs that have been outsourced and the list goes on. Our government has allowed millions of illegals into this country, and have allowed them to worm their way into our social services, thereby adding billions of dollars to the entitlement rolls. Our economy is going South, in some cases literally, and the wimps on both sides of the aisle in Washington have no idea what to do about it and there's a very good reason for this, these people don't live in the real world. They don't have to worry about the skyrocketing cost of healthcare or shrinking 401k plans. They live in a world of privilege and deference and many of them haven't had a real job in 30 years. How could they know what's going on in the streets of America? They live behind a wall of isolation and many of them know little besides what some lobbyist tells them. It is a national insanity not to have term limits. Our government is broke and on top of that it is in debt to the tune of trillions of dollars and much of that is foreign money. What is going to happen when these foreign investors start calling in their notes? Is the most powerful and prosperous nation in the history of mankind going to forfeit? The politicians are so concerned about our reputation among the nations. I wonder how our reputation will fare when we cheat other nations out of the good faith loans they let us have. What do you think?
Pray for our troops

Well, I guess we all know about Illinois' governor, Rod Blagojevich, trying to sell Barack Obama's vacated Senate seat. I've gotten used to learning about crooked politicians but this guy Blagojevich is either extremely brazen or just plain hillbilly dumb. Even knowing that he was under investigation for corruption, he was legally taped on the telephone talking about the rewards he could reap by appointing certain people to the Senate. A couple of years ago Louisiana Congressman, William Jefferson, was relieved of duty for accepting money for political favors. He must have made a lot of it because he had ninety thousand dollars in his freezer. Alaska's Senator, Ted Stevens, lost his Senate seat after he was found guilty of corruption charges. Charles Rangel, Congressman from New York, is now under investigation and the list goes on. We all know about the campaign contributions from rich people and big corporations, the crooked lobbyists who are the bagmen for special interests and the Congressmen and women who looked at America through a television camera and told us that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were safe and sound, just a short while before the lid blew off both of them. We all know that Barney Frank and company are investigating the heads of corporations when somebody should be investigating them. We all know about the government mounting staggering debt on the shoulders of our great great grandchildren to bolster failing companies and unions. In other words my friends, the unfortunate truth is that a large part of our House and Senate are corrupt, jaded men and women who are selling our government and our future to the highest bidder and the end is not in sight. This country is supposed to be of the people, by the people and for the people. Now it is of the crooks, by the crooks and for the crooks. The will of the people means nothing to this bunch. Our Congress is completely out of control, completely out of touch and completely out of ideas about what to do about anything except being re-elected. At one time in my life I was under the impression that people who ran for public office were decent folks who want to serve this country and I know that there were and maybe still are a few who have not sold out to the dark side. But when you look at the overall record of this Congress it is dismal and getting more so all the time. Have you ever stopped and thought about how much money seven hundred billion dollars is? That is nearly $2,300 for every man, woman and child in America. And one hundred fifty billion of that was in personal pork barrel spending. That's the price of a vote in Congress these days, put a few billion in my pork barrel if you want my vote. People, if you've read this column over the last nine years you know that I love America with all my heart, that I believe in the Republic and believe this is the greatest nation the world has ever known. But nowadays I am so disgusted with the House and Senate who seem to be nothing more that a bunch of impotent old hacks who can't do anything about the mess we're in and won't step aside to let someone with fresh ideas come and do what they can't. Supposedly Barack Obama came into office to effect sweeping change and the American public bought it. Okay, America has spoken, Obama has won and I am willing to give him a chance and see what he does, but while America has voted for change in the White House, they have sent the same old losing team back to the Congress, and there will be no change except for the worse. That's all this bunch is capable of.
Am I in contempt of Congress? Dang right, I am! I'm so much in contempt that I can't even articulate it.
What do you think?
Pray for our troops
God Bless America

We are soon celebrating a holy holiday called Christmas. That's spelled C-h-r-i-s-t mas and the first six letters in the name of the holiday should tip off any person with enough gray matter to tie their shoes that the day is about somebody or something called Christ.
Just as Thanksgiving is set aside to give thanks and Labor Day is set aside to pay tribute to working people, Christmas is set aside to celebrate the birthday of Christ Jesus and why that bothers some people so much is beyond my comprehension.
While they have no trouble with Santa Claus and the superficial paraphernalia surrounding the holiday, they scream, holler and almost become apoplectic when someone has the audacity to display a true symbol of Christmas in a public place.
The ACLU has expended thousands of man-hours for no other reason than to keep the symbols of this holiday out of public places, atheists have virtually bent over backwards to show their public disrespect for the day, and companies have forbidden their employees to say Merry Christmas to their customers for fear of offending the politically correct.
Now why is it that these people fight so hard against having this one season celebrated for its true meaning? What so offends them about the name of Christ?
May I state my humble opinion?
Jesus Christ, said, "I am the way, the truth and the life." Let's look at that statement. He said "I am the way", and goes on to say that He is the only way, that there is no way for mankind to reach God except to go through Jesus.
Well in this day of multi-culturalism and political correctness, when New Age followers think themselves to be gods and goddesses and quaint eastern religions are considered to be chic and hip, if it feels good do it because all roads lead to the mountain top.
Anyway, it just doesn't sit well with these people for someone to declare the path to be so narrow that it has to come by way of the blood He shed and nothing else.
He said that He is the truth. Today truth has become subjective, graded on a curve and tailored to fit the situation at hand.
In this day of lying politicians, revisionist history and a media which slants the news in keeping with their political agenda, the truth can be hard to decipher, and for some harder to accept.
It's like Jack Nicholson said in the movie A Few Good Men, "You can't handle the truth!" and so it is with these people who are so terrified of a simple nativity scene. It represents the truth, and the truth would totally destroy the house of straw they're living in.
Jesus said, "I am the life." Jesus lived a life of service and sacrifice and in the end died the most horrible death any man has ever suffered.
His was a life of selfless love and He told us to take up our cross and follow Him. Evidently this doesn't suit the goals of the ACLU.
The Bible also says that Jesus is the light and brought light in the world but that man didn't want the light because it exposed their sin.
So why don't these people want these symbols of the birth of Christ in their sight? In my humble opinion, they don't want to be exposed to the light of truth and don't want anybody else to be exposed to it.
I suppose they think there's safety in numbers. Actually these people are to be pitied and prayed for. They have been deceived by the father of all deceivers, and in this season of love and forgiveness it would be a righteous thing for all believers to pray that these people will be enlightened.
I write this acknowledging that I am a sinner and the only hope I have is in the one whose birth we honor during this season, Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God.
And my friends you will believe it too someday for every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.
From all the ranch hands at Twin Pines Ranch, the office and management staff, the fan club folks, the pickers, roadies and drivers in the CDB organization I wish each and every one of you, not "Happy Holidays," not "Season's Greetings," not "Happy Kwanza" or a "Peaceful Solstice" but a very blessed and Merry Christmas, spelled C-h-r-i-s-t mas.
What do you think?
Pray for our troops
God Bless America

Posted: Fri Dec 19th, 2008 "Let Not Your Heart Be Troubled"When Jesus knew that His time to suffer the cross was near, He comforted His disciples by telling them, "Let not your heart be troubled." Jesus knew His disciples would go through tremendous trials and tribulations. He knew they would be persecuted and some of them would suffer crucifixion, as He was about to do.
But still He told them, "Let not your heart be troubled." In my humble opinion, what He was telling them is that no matter how dark the world becomes, there is a glorious light at the end of the tunnel no matter how hard the way may become.
Jesus said He would never forsake us, never leave us and the Bible says that God will never allow us to receive a burden we simply cannot handle.
Today with the headlines screaming about catastrophic financial problems, a corrupt and impotent Congress and Senate and radical terrorists roaming the world, just waiting for an opportunity to tear us apart, in this day of violent death in our streets and chaos in the market place, in this time of war and rumors of war and three hundred and sixty degree trouble, we need to remember what Jesus said and realize that no matter what happens, the faithful believer will win the victory.
The Bible also says in Timothy that in the last days people will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure, having a form of godliness but denying it's power.
As always, the Holy Bible is absolutely correct. Is there any denying that people love themselves so much that they allow their greed to overcome them and they'll do anything to anybody to get the money they love so much?
It goes without saying that so many are boastful and proud and certainly disobedient to their parents.
When you look around you see unholiness in the fruitless efforts of groups like the ACLU to eradicate God from public life in America.
Some gangs require a new member to actually kill somebody before they are accepted in the gang, just randomly take a human life. They are without love or compassion.
Unforgivness these days is a sickness that eats away at the hearts of men until it destroys them.
Some people love pleasure more than anything in the world, nothing else matters. They put the pursuit of pleasure ahead of all else, and many times that pursuit ends in depravity. Look at the growth of pornography.
Most people are willing to say that there is some kind of higher power. They're willing to say that Jesus was a great prophet. They look askance at the Bible as being an outdated book of fairy tales, having no regard for its truths and prophecies.
Old and once trusted financial institutions have proven that we can't put our confidence in the business world.
Everybody knows that we certainly put our trust in a government that has no interest except to stay in power and recklessly spend our tax dollars
We can't trust society. It is too status-seeking and self-centered.
So who do we trust, who can we put our absolute trust in?
Our salvation arrived on this earth over two thousand years ago. Please remember the reason for the season and in the true spirit of Christmas, do a kindness for someone, forgive someone, smile at someone, give somebody a big hug and above all let not your heart be troubled.
Note, on Monday we will go into what I call our Christmas mode. Instead of an editorial, we will be featuring a short story I wrote called. "A Carolina Christmas Carol" . I hope you'll read and enjoy it. What do you think? Pray for our troops God Bless America Charlie Daniels. December 19, 2008 _______________________ 'S'

~ Almost a New Year ~ Where did it go, 2008? It seems that it should only be about six months old and already it's about to get out of the way and make room for a brand new 2009.
I don't remember a year in a long time when there was as much confusion, doubt and downright fear about what the new year will hold for the people of this country.
We have a new president coming into office, a president -the truth be told- we know very little about. It remains to be seen how he will govern and how his approach to domestic policy will effect the economy.
It also remains to be seen whether or not our allies and our enemies will respect him and if his approach to foreign affairs will be considered weak or strong by the terrorists who want to destroy us.
The Russians are rattling their nuclear sabers again, and cozying up with avowed enemies of the USA like Hugo Chavez.
How will our new president handle our old enemies who respect nothing but strength? Can you imagine how shutting down Guantanamo Bay would be viewed by the radical Islamic world as a surrender? That's how they'll look at it, yet Mr. Obama has said unequivocally that he would shut it down. What will be the results of that move?
Will President Obama try to involve the United Nations in all our business, or will he recognize the UN for the toothless, senile, impotent club of jealous America haters that it is.
I have a feeling that dealing with the rest of the world is going to be very difficult in the coming year, just look at what is going on in Israel, and there's no telling what loose ends they may tie up before President Bush goes out of office because nobody knows how President Obama would view these military moves by the Israelis and whether they would have even tacit support from the new president.
The Democrats will control the White House and both houses of Congress, with precious few checks and balances on their unbridled power to do anything their tax and spend loving hearts desire. Will they break things so badly they can't be fixed again?
In the face of near record cold and massive, widespread snowfall, and the constant rebuttal of their theories, the doomsayers of global warming are still marching to their own drummer and telling us that the seas are shrinking, the polar bear is in danger of extinction and the planet is coming to an end.
Is global warming going to wreak havoc on the third planet from the sun? As I write this I'm in Colorado where there is three or four feet of snow on the ground, two foot long icicles hanging off the roof and the temperature has been as low as minus 15.
Though I believe there are many things we can do to improve our environment, I don't buy into global warming. I think the planet is just going through normal cycles just as it has for thousands of years.
It's nothing new to mistrust politicians. When Congressional leaders look in a television camera and tell the nation that two of our largest financial organizations are on firm footing as Barney Frank and assorted other members of Congress did, and then a year or so later the whole thing goes bust, spilling dire ramifications around the world and wiping out some of America's most prestigious financial giants, what are we to think when Barney Frank and his ilk tell us about anything else?
You just don't know who to trust these days. Mr. Frank and friends also forced banks to make loans to people who had no hope of paying them back. Is this going to be the policy of the new Democratic controlled Congress?
There's a lot to ponder as we go into 2009, so many things that are out of our control, so much we have to distrust, so much we are uncertain about.
So much has changed in our lives. So many people and institutions we thought we could put our trust in have turned out to be rotten to the core.
But one thing hasn't changed and never will.
God is still on the throne.
He still loves us.
He still offers free salvation and eternal life through the shed blood of His son, Jesus Christ, and that's something you can depend on, now and forever.
So don't let the world scare you.
From all of us here at The CDB and Twin Pines Ranch, we wish each and every one of you the happiest and most prosperous New Year you've ever had.
What do you think?
Pray for our troops
God Bless America

Michael Newdow is at it again. Remember him?
He's the avowed atheist who wants to take God's name out of The Pledge of Allegiance, off our money and any place else it appears. If you look at this issue using cowboy logic, if atheists don't believe there is a God, why do they care where his name appears? Atheists by their very supposed beliefs claim they don't believe in religion. Just what in the name of Sam Hill is atheism, if not a religion? It's a belief, a choice concerning the deity, whether pro or con, so what atheists are doing is trying to force their religion on everybody else. Now Mr. Newdow, and I'm sure he'll find a bunch of heathen lawyers to go along with him, wants prayer taken out of Obama's inauguration claiming that it amounts to the government endorsing religion. Well if Mr. Newdow has his way and they take the prayer out doesn't that amount to the government endorsing atheism? Of course it does, and I'll tell you one thing, if the courts of this nation side with the atheists and take prayer out of the inauguration, this nation -which is already in the throes of economic crisis- will pay a price. If we deny God His rightful place in the affairs of this nation should we expect Him to intervene when we need protection? Just what do you think has kept us safe from terrorist attacks since 9/11? It certainly wasn't the atheists. The last I heard something like 80% of Americans believe in God in one-way or another. If this is truly a nation "by the people and for the people" where the majority rules, there should not even be a question of what should happen at President Obama's inauguration. Why should the majority of the people in a free society be pushed around by a miserable little man and his cohorts, who don't have anything better to do than try to make everybody else as miserable as they are? I personally can't for the life of me understand how any sane person can believe there is not a God. Even if they don't believe, why they would be so intent on taking away everybody else's right to express their individual belief? If it's all a bunch of junk, why should they care? It is not unconstitutional for people to practice whatever beliefs they hold and Obama professes Christianity, so it is his right, as an American citizen, to have prayer and Bibles at his inauguration, if Mr. Newdow doesn't like it all he has to do is ignore it, just don't turn the TV on that day. I can't imagine living in a dark world of believing that there is no Heaven, no Hell and no hope, that prayers are never answered because there's no divine being to answer them. I can't help but believe that at night when the lights are out and these atheists are alone in bed that the thought that they might be wrong creeps into the back of their minds, and when they are lying on their deathbeds and they are about to take that last breath and walk through the door in irreversible eternity if panic sets in when they realize that there are only two places to go after death and the good one is controlled by that God they have been trying to convince the world doesn't exist. What do you think?
Pray for our troops

The Coin Has Flipped Okay, the votes have been counted and Barack Hussein Obama - I guess it's okay to use his middle name now since he was sworn in that way - is going to be our president for the next four years. He is my president and I will pray for him and pull for him and hope that he can deliver on some of the promises he has made. I say some of the promises because I also pray that he can't deliver on some of them such as expanded abortion laws and gay marriage. Now before some of you cherry pickers waste your time telling me how behind the times I am, let me just tell you that no amount of liberal explanation about a woman's right to choose and "what difference does it make who marries who" talk is going to make me change my mind. Just let me say that I believe abortion and gay marriage are wrong in the sight of God and it's His judgment I'm concerned about, not the world's. Now that the coin has flipped I would like to ask some of you compassionate liberals to have a little understanding for the loyal opposition. There are just some things that we just aren't going to go along with. That doesn't mean we hate Obama in the way some of you people hated George Bush, it just means that we don't happen to think that some of the things that Obama will support will be good for America. And please don't bring up that old worn out saw that we are prejudiced and don't go along with every thing Obama proposes because he's black. You can put that one back on the rubbish pile. I am not interested in the color of the president, only that we have the best man or woman available in the Oval Office. Now let's get to some of the other problems that I have with Obama. Guantanamo Bay - It is easy to sit in your easy chair and criticize the Gitmo operation, to be idealistic and say that it should be closed down for humanitarian reasons. Well in the first place, I submit to you that we don't know half of what goes on in Guantanamo Bay and the lifesaving information that has been extracted from murderous fanatics who would like nothing better that murder you and your children in your bed. One thing we do know about the Guantanamo operation is that several of the inmates who have been let go have shown back up in the terrorist ranks trying to kill Americans. I will make you a prediction. After Gitmo closes down, if the lawyers get involved this is going to be one of the biggest messes America has had to deal with in decades. Just wait and see. And I'll make you another prediction. If, God forbid, we have another terrorist attack in America you're going to see the idealist population in this country drop off to nothing. When the threat becomes real and truly threatens America in our homes and there could be a terrorist attack in your own neighborhood, I don't think America will be worrying about how these terrorists are treated. You just want to be safe again. Oh and bye the way, are you sure you want to let the government take your guns away? Could there come a time when only criminals and terrorists have guns? The War In Iraq - Nobody wants to see the troops come home from Iraq more than I do. I have been among them on the job and found them to be dedicated and loyal and they possess a degree of patriotism that I only wish every American had. I have visited them in military hospitals and seen the horrendous wounds they have suffered at the hands of a cruel enemy. I have nothing but the greatest respect and love for these heroes and pray for them daily and would like nothing better than to see every last one of them brought back home. But to leave before the job is completely done would create a vacuum that would soon be filled by Iran and other Muslim fanatics. Now you may say that if Iran came into Iraq we could go back and kick them out. Well my answer to you is that Iran has been developing a catastrophic WMD for years now and we haven't done anything about it. Abandoning Iraq would do two dangerous things. 1. In the last half-century, we have developed a habit of leaving our allies in deadly lurches. If we leave Iraq before they are able to stand on their own two feet and protect themselves how could any nation ever trust the United States again? 2. It would send a message to the committed Islamic crazies that would reinforce something they already suspect about America. The American public has not got the will or the stomach to finish a battle. And we haven't even touched on the economy. There is no possible way that the government of this nation can possibly bail out all the businesses who apply for money. Even the pornography industry is asking for a hand out. Some businesses are badly run and no amount of taxpayer's money is going to save them from eventual failure. If the government persists on going down that road our currency will not be worth the paper it's printed on in the world market. And what about when the rest of the world starts calling in the loans they've made to us? The problem with government doing anything in the private sector is that they can't do anything right. They can't find their posterior with both hands. Obama says he's going to rebuild the infrastructure of the nation sounds good in a sound bite but There are simply too many greedy politicians in Washington who hold their personal interests above the interests of the country, and will bend over backwards to see that government contracts go to political cronies who will do their best to use the cheapest materials available and run the cost up as high as possible. Look at the house trailer debacle during Katrina when something like 35,000 trailers were defective and not fit to be used. Guess who footed the bill for that one? How about the Oil for Food screw-up and the guilty United Nations officials who are still walking around free? You could well say that we could appoint a Senate Oversight Committee to keep things like this from happening. Ha ha ha, this bunch of clowns can't even oversee their own Congressional bank. Remember that? I am not a doom and gloom man, and that is not what I'm trying to spread in this article. I congratulate President Obama and will support everything he does that I feel is good for America, but just won't be able to go along with some of the things he's proposed. As that old saying goes, you've got to stand for something or you'll fall for anything.
What do you think?
Pray for our troops
God bless America

For Gun Owners If you've read this column for very long you know that I rarely ever ask anybody to support any cause, but there is an emergency developing in this nation and as usual the media is ignoring it and I feel it is urgent to get the word out.
There is currently a bill making it's way through Congress, it is called H.R. 45: Blair Holt's Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009 and it is designed for no other reason but to restrict gun ownership and make it difficult and expensive to buy ammunition.
In my humble opinion the milksops on Capitol Hill are trying to slip this one through without attracting any attention.
If you are a gun owner, as I am, and believe you have a Constitutional right to own firearms, as I do, and don't trust the Congress of the United States to protect that right, which I don't. I'm going to ask you to take just a few minutes of your time and do what I'm doing.
I am writing to every Congressman and Senator who represents Tennessee, where I live, and asking them some simple questions.
I am going to do it with hard copies through the regular mail but you can do it by email if you want, although I think the actual letters have more impact and then if and when they answer you have an actual signature.
It's really a very simple letter to make your representatives declare themselves on this issue, here's what I'm writing.
Dear Congressman/Senator whoever:
I am extremely concerned about the climate in Washington concerning firearms control.
In this day of rampant crime, home invasion and potential terrorist attacks, We The People need to know what our elected officials are thinking on the subject.
So I ask, with all due respect, and please don't parse or elaborate, a simple sentence or two will suffice. Where do you stand on gun owner's rights, and do you or will you support H.R. 45: Blair Holt's Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009?
Anxiously awaiting your honest response.
God Bless America
Charlie Daniels The reason for doing this is to make the people we hire to represent us take a stand one way or another, and at least we'll know who the enemy is.
Charlton Heston was a great American and a proud gun owner, which didn't sit too well with some the Hollywood crowd. I have no way of verifying it but I heard that when the Rodney King riots started in Los Angeles some of Mr. Heston's detractors were calling him wanting to know if he had an extra gun they could borrow.
It's funny how fast idealism bows to self-preservation when push comes to shove.
This is serious, folks; and I cannot sound the alarm loudly enough.
I urge you to at least hold elected officials responsible or one of these days we'll wake up and only criminals and terrorists will have guns.
What do you think?
Pray for our troops
God Bless America

[Billy Powell]Another Fallen Brother I've always felt that there's a special bond between people who make their living playing music on the road. A bond of understanding the road life and all it entails, a bond of loving the music we play and admiration for the others who burn the midnight oil running up and down the highways of America. It's a big business but each band has their own little world of bands you tour with and special friends you have shared your professional life with and when that world is reduced by just one person it leaves a hole. I got word this morning that Billy Powell, one of the original members of the Lynyrd Skynyrd Band, passed away from a heart attack today around 1AM. (1/28/09) Billy was an exceptionally talented piano player and all the fresh and inventive keyboard parts we've enjoyed on their records for all these years have been created and played by Billy. My heart goes out to Gary, Dale, Ricky and Sparky, the crew and families of the Lynyrd Skynyrd Band. They've suffered so many heartaches over the years. We all remember the plane crash that claimed the lives of Ronnie Van Zant, Steve and Cassie Gaines, Dean Kilpatrick and the pilots. Some years later Allen Collins passed away, then Leon Wilkerson and now Billy. I would just like for the surviving members to know that the hearts of us, your brothers of the road, go out to you. And speaking for myself, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your families during this trying time. God Bless the Lynyrd Skynyrd Band.
With love and condolences.

Ladies and Gentlemen, You are, or soon will be, in the process of considering the Freedom of Choice Act or FOCA bill which basically takes away the individual states rights to have laws of their own to limit any kind of abortion. And will force medical personnel to take part in aborting perfectly healthy unborn babies their consciences notwithstanding. My first question to each of you is do you really want this on your conscience? You may hide behind a supposed belief that a woman has a right to murder an innocent child at any time before it starts nursing, but down deep you know there's something wrong here. You'll never really have peace about it. My second question is, have you witnessed in person or seen a video of a late term abortion? Well if you haven't, you actually won't know what you voting on will you? So instead of representing your constituents you would be misrepresenting them. After all, if you represent all the people, aren't babies included? And if you don't really know what happens to a baby during an abortion, how can you say you're representing them? In essence if you vote for this atrocity, you will be abandoning them. And if you truly do represent "We The People," shouldn't "We The People" also know what happens during an abortion, as a baby is dismembered, limb-by-limb? Shouldn't you make available to all people a video showing a late-term abortion so "We The People" can make up our own minds after actually seeing the grisly act performed? If it's so harmless, why hide the facts? Shouldn't you also make available to "We The People" the real facts about the post abortion syndrome so many women go through when they realize that they have not merely done away with a blob of flesh but have actually murdered a being with a soul that Almighty God created? We are all familiar with Adolph Hitler's Holocaust during which he murdered six million Jews. Do you think murdering innocent unborn children is any less atrocious in the sight of God than murdering Jews? You may say, "I wouldn't be doing the abortions". Well, Hitler didn't turn on the gas in Auschwitz himself, but he caused it to happen. If you enable others to do the dirty work do you think you're any less guilty? If you vote for this horrible piece of legislation, removing the last thin semblance of protection for the unborn, if you actually put your name on that document, I will tell you something you can either ignore or take as a warning. On the other side of eternity, when in the presence of Almighty God you come face to face with the innocent babies you've helped to abort, do you think you can say you didn't realize what you were doing or make God understand that you had to vote yes to be a good loyal party member. President Obama has already stated in his campaign that he will sign this disgraceful piece of garbage, but it can't be a law without going through the Congress and Senate. I'm sure that Ms. Pelosi and Mr. Reid will put all the pressure they can on you to support FOCA, but do you really want this on your conscience. I will make you an ironclad guarantee. You will live to see the day when you will bitterly regret that you supported this murderous bill. Every time someone brings up the evils of abortion proponents always come up with, well what about the life of the mother, but you know as well as I do that almost all abortions have nothing to do with the life of the mother, it is nothing more than sexual expediency. Go home and look at your children and grandchildren and realize that they were once fetuses. How would you feel about some ghoul dismembering them while they suffered unspeakable pain before they even had a chance to take a deep breath? Try holding your breath for a half hour and imagine someone cutting off your fingers one at a time.
It's horrible isn't it? Admit it now, or admit it later, but admit it you will.
So it's up to you men and women of the Congress and Senate, but just remember before you cast your vote, political parties are not eternal but the soul is.
What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his own soul?
Think about it.
What do you think?
Pray for our troops
God Bless America

Leaky Boat When I think of a bail out, I think of dipping water out of a boat to keep it from sinking. If the boat has leaks and the water you dip out keeps coming back in through the leaks, the bailing is an exercise in futility, which is an apt analogy of what the President and Congress are doing. They continue to bail out a leaky boat. Last year President Bush and the Congress tried a so-called stimulus package. They sent a few hundred dollars to millions of Americans thinking it would stimulate the economy. Actually it was tantamount to putting a Band-Aid on a heart attack. The money just disappeared into bank accounts, went to pay bills or ended up in the pockets of liquor stores and drug dealers. Very little of it went to stimulate the economy. The numbers literally boggle the mind. To be honest I don't even know how many zeros are on the end of these voluminous figures. But let's take a look at what has happened so far, 700 Billion - Wall Street 600 Billion - Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac 168 Billion - 2008 stimulus Can you see any impact this incredible amount of dollars that have been spent so far have made on the American economy? I can't. So far the bailout budget has cost more than, the New Deal, the Iraq War, the total lifetime budget of NASA and the 1980 savings and loan crisis put together. The bailed out banks continue to fail and still aren't loaning out the taxpayer's money, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are still broke and floundering and the billions of dollars given to Wall Street may as well have been flushed down a black hole. And just to show you where Congress is at, after telling the American public that the country was going to evaporate without the first bailout legislation they turned around and loaded the rescue package with billions of dollars worth of pork barrel spending, proving once and for all that we have a gaggle of greedy, self serving hacks on Capitol Hill. President Obama claims the billions of dollars he proposes to spend are to create or save four million jobs and invigorate the economy. Can you tell me what the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases has to do with creating jobs? And how many jobs will be created by contraception education? It makes no difference how many trillions of dollars are poured into the bailouts; nothing is going to work until the leaks are fixed, and the leaks are many. Barney Frank and Maxine Waters, who told us that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were solid and well-managed, and who were also instrumental in forcing banks to make big loans to people that had absolutely no way of paying them back are still there. And the boat is still leaking… Nancy Pelosi and "Honest" Harry Reid, the man who still hasn't found out that the surge in Iraq worked, are still there and are bigger socialist spendthrifts than ever. Obama wants to give a tax refund to people who don't even pay federal payroll taxes. He calls it tax cuts, actually it's nothing more than socialistic welfare and it's a huge leak. The government now owns a large part of some of our biggest financial institutions. What are they going to do with them? It's going to be a travesty, just wait and see. Congress can't even run its own bank. The dollars the government is spending is borrowed money, and in essence, America is living on borrowed time and none of the bailout plans address the coming disaster when the Chinese and Japanese start calling in those loans. Drip, drip, drip. I know that nobody in Washington will admit it, but the bailout is nothing more or nothing less than plain old socialism. It has never worked, it will never work, and there's a very good reason why. Socialism fails because it gets so top heavy with people who depend on the government for every aspect of their lives. The money to fund the do-nothing but whine people who depend on the government for everything has to come from somewhere, and the only place for it to come from is the productive people. In essence it takes the profit out of being any better or working any harder than anybody else does, discouraging productivity and at the same time encouraging laziness. People on the dole keep increasing while the government takes more and more of what the productive people produce and give it to the do-nothing people Finally when they can get no more from the productive people they have to cut the amount of money they give the do-nothing people making the do-nothing people very unhappy. That's when the riots start and the police state is born to keep the unhappy do-nothing people in line. That is the advent of chaos. Do you think this can't happen in the United States? Just give Nancy, Harry and company a few years; and the sad part is that people on Capitol Hill are so out of touch with the people of this nation that they won't even see it coming until it's too late. It's a frightening thought.
P.S. Maybe the Republican Party is starting to grow some gonads again; they actually voted against the existing bill in the House this past week.
Only time will tell.
What do you think?

God Help Us One of my earliest remembrances of major world events was a bleak Sunday afternoon in December of 1941. The news came over my grandparents big floor model radio that the Japanese had bombed our base in Pearl Harbor.
At the age of five I had no ability to grasp the importance and the gravity of the situation, but I knew from the way all the grown people were acting that it was something very serious and something that would affect our lives for some time to come.
And affect our lives it did. My hometown of Wilmington, North Carolina is on the Atlantic coast and a strategic shipping port for fuel and other cargo bound for our forces in Europe and more than one oil tanker fell victim to German U-boats just off the coast.
We had air raid drills and the top half of the headlights on cars had to be blacked out so they couldn't be seen from the air. Everything from gasoline to sugar was rationed and families had cards that limited the amount of rationed products you could get.
America was ill prepared for war when Pearl Harbor was bombed but soon found herself fighting two deadly and well-equipped enemies in two different parts of the world.
America huddled around their radios and heard FDR tell us that the only thing we had to fear was fear itself, and America believed him and rolled up her sleeves, ready to make whatever sacrifices and work as hard and as long as it took to keep America free.
We collected scrap metal, saved tin cans and newspapers and even discarded nylon hosiery. I don't know how they were used but they told us it would help out with the war effort and that's all we needed to know.
There were weeks when the casualties were higher than the total casualties in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars combined. There were dark days when battles were lost and things looked all but hopeless.
But America came together, mourned our losses, licked our wounds and said our prayers to Almighty God, knowing that in spite of the odds and no matter what, that no swastika or rising sun would ever fly above our beloved United States of America.
Let me tell you something people, watching this incredible nation operating at 100% is an awesome sight to see. When everybody put aside their personal differences, dug in and refused to be shaken. We had a war to win and we wouldn't stop until it was done.
Of course, we all know the outcome. We won the war. Why did we win it? Of course most of the credit goes to the fierce tenacity of the men and women who actually did the fighting.
But beyond that we were all enjoined in one effort, we were in this thing together, we would either all win or we would all lose and losing was unacceptable.
Today we face a different kind of war, an economic war, brought on by greedy citizens and inept and ineffective politicians in both political parties, and the sad thing is that we are depending on the same people who got us into this mess to get us out of it.
Well America's greatness is not in the White House nor either house of Congress. It is not on Wall Street or the oil patches. It's not in the boardrooms nor the caucus rooms, nor the bank vaults or Fort Knox for that matter.
Prosperity is not what makes America great, but the people who, with Almighty God's help, created the prosperity, the hard working honest men and women of this nation.
We definitely have some tears in our moral fabric; we have some politicians who should be moved from the congressional house to the outhouse, we have some business people who have bilked the American public out of their life savings and the government is printing and spending money like so much green paper.
Yes we've got major problems, but we've still got each other. Politicians will never pull us out of this mess, they don't know how, no matter how many pork barrel billions and trillions of our money they spend.
But praying, God fearing, hard working Americans can. I don't know about you all, but I want my America back. I want to take back the sovereignty of this nation. Take it back from Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Barney Frank, Maxine Waters, Chris Dodd and all the rest of the self-serving power junkies in Washington who act like royalty and circumvent the Constitution.
People, we can't afford to be divided anymore, we need to come together, I know we'll never all think exactly alike but can't we put aside at least our petty little differences and put our country first?
So hold your head up America. Don't listen to the twenty-four hour doom and gloom drivel of the media.
Work hard.
Vote every time the polls open.
Say your prayers and never, ever give up.
What do you think?
Pray for our troops
God Bless America

[glow=red,2,300] Flood of Blood[/glow] Anybody with a brain in their head has been able to see that the situation on our Southern Border was bound to turn into chaos, with the potential for terrorists and violent criminals to walk across unimpeded and go into whatever part of the U.S. they wanted to.
Every time a voice is raised in protest of this travesty, groups like La Raza start shouting about racism and anti-Latino sentiment. Of course this, for the most part, is a bunch of unadulterated junk, as most people in this country have nothing against Latinos or any other race coming to the U.S. We just want them to do it legally, as our forefathers had to.
Our gonadless politicians in Washington have put off doing something meaningful about the deplorable situation at the border until I'm afraid that a political solution is no longer possible. In all probability it is going to take a military response.
I don't know if you've kept up with what's going on in Mexico or not but here it is in a nutshell. The Mexican state of Sinaloa has been taken over by violent drug gangs. Ninety policemen have been killed over the past year and the ones left alive are either on the take or tear for their and their families' lives. Journalists are intimidated and afraid to report what's going on.
The cartels have hired away some of the cream of the Mexican military, the Mexican equivalent of America's Green Berets now form a deadly drug army, who have neither conscience nor mercy when it comes to killing innocents, pregnant women notwithstanding.
Corruption has always been a part of Mexican politics but with the amount of money the drug cartels have to throw around corruption has become a catastrophic pandemic as Mexico sinks deeper and deeper beneath the drug lord's influence.
Mexico's new President, Felipe Calderon, has vowed to fight the drug cartels and at present is doing a credible job but the task is daunting and dangerous and we should pray for his safety and success.
The streets of some Mexican border towns have become so bloody that the military services with bases in the area have put them off limits, but it has little effect, as the narcotics trade is now bigger in Mexico than tourism.
As the cartels wage bloody territorial wars on each other, totally innocent men, women and children get caught in the crossfire and viciously murdered. Over three thousand people have died at the hands of these cartels in the last year.
The prize of course is the seemingly insatiable cocaine and crystal meth market of the United States. Mexico's proximity and porous border with the U.S. makes it an easy task to smuggle drugs, explosives, guns or whatever else into this country unimpeded.
In places where surface crossing has become difficult, they have dug elaborate tunnels to transport their goods. The above is informational and if you really want to catch up on what's going on in Mexico you can easily dig into it on the Internet.
But here is the crux of my message and please don't ignore it. It is a warning plain and simple about a situation that could spin out of control in a very short amount of time.
The violence in Mexico is now spilling over into the United States. Phoenix Arizona, unfortunately a center for importation and transport of drugs has now become the kidnap capitol of the U.S. as feuding drug lords send thugs across the border to collect past due drug money by whatever means they wish to use and kidnapping someone's family is a very persuasive way of doing it.
I watched President Obama's speech to the joint session of Congress last night and did not hear the word Mexico mentioned once. He talked about Iraq and Afghanistan but there is a full blown war going on in all the border states and our elected officials have chosen to ignore it.
It's coming folks, these people would like nothing better than to take the U.S. over one increment at the time, to intimidate our citizens and corrupt our officials.
Are you sitting there thinking that it can't happen here? Don't be so easily fooled. Look what happened in Russia.
There is a flood of violence, corruption and evil in Mexico and America has a huge hole in the dam and left unchecked our border states are in immediate and imminent danger.
Wake up Washington before your country washes away.
What do you think?
Pray for our troops
God Bless America

Fossil
The longer I live the more I realize how out of step I am with most of the mainstream modern world.
I've never watched American Idol, Survivor, or Grey's Anatomy. I didn't watch Friends and had no idea who the Jonas Brothers were until recently. The style of the clothes I wear hasn't changed in well over a hundred years, and I still love a Hank Williams song. I have fond memories of getting out of school around Memorial Day and not going back until Labor Day. I still believe in a spare the rod and spoil the child philosophy - I am myself a product of that system - and I thank God that my parents loved me enough to teach me respect for other people and their property. I believe that political correctness is like a balloon full of hot air and when it's finally emptied out there is nothing of substance there. My handshake is as good or better than a written contract and my word is firm and I will do my best to fulfill promises. I'm still old fashioned enough to believe that honesty is not the best policy but the only policy and that Americans without criminal records have a constitutionally protected right to own firearms and an obligation to protect themselves and their families with them. I think that any politician who sells out his or her country and it's people for political gain is a scumbag and should be hounded out of office, jailed and disgraced. As a Bible believing man, I don't believe there will be a lasting peace in Israel until Jesus Christ comes back. I don't claim to know when that will happen but the Biblical signs are lining up. I believe in buying American, capital punishment and that true marriage can only exist between a man and a woman. I don't care for tofu, sweet cornbread, half-cooked string beans and cold coffee, and I don't like eating at a nouveau type restaurant where the portions are so little you need to use a toothpick for a fork. I hate heavy traffic, stiff bed sheets, dirty motel rooms, burnt toast, breaking in new boots, neighbor's dogs that bark at midnight, black ice and long lines. I still think John Wayne, Gary Cooper and Jimmy Stewart were the greatest. I believe that life begins at conception and that destroying that life for anything short of saving the mother's life is downright murder. I love children and think that anybody who is scumbag enough to rape a three year old should be scumbag enough to take the consequences, which in my opinion should be a tall tree and a short piece of rope. I come from the old dog school of assessing enemies and believe that the only way the Islamic terrorist threat will end is for all of them to be dead or for all of us to be dead and I think we're going to have to make a choice on which course of action we are going to pursue, and we've got to do it right away. I believe that the course of fiscal action our government is presently taking will bankrupt America, catastrophically devalue the dollar and cause this nation to lose it's place as the leader of the free world. I believe that Barack Obama's approach to terrorism is not only dangerous, but silly. I don't think he realizes the extent of the clear and present danger of the Islamic threat and that his naivety could well lead this nation into disaster. I believe that if the Democrat party goes on unabated with the White House and both houses of Congress, they will seriously erode the Constitution and will break and divide this nation so badly that it can only be fixed by Almighty God. Oh, and by the way, I hate soap operas.
Told ya I was old fashioned.
What do you think?

The "Fairness" Doctrine??? There is a lot of talk and even some discussion in Congress, which should be called the House of the Castrati (to borrow from Rush Limbaugh) about a thing called the "Fairness Doctrine", which is actually an oxymoron since it has nothing to do with fairness and everything to do with suppression of conservative voices. It seems that the liberal wing of political wags in this country are so upset by the success of Rush, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck and their compadres in conservative talk radio that they want to force the radio stations to allow for an equal but dissenting opinion by someone of the liberal persuasion. This is downright stupid, which is nothing new for the Senate and Congress, but it also proves just how isolated and out of touch with the American public, and reality, they are because liberalism has many more voices on the air than conservatism, just watch any of the networks and ninety percent of the cable channels, pick up any big city newspaper or any PBS radio or television station. But in promoting their vision of a Godless, immoral, socialistic America, the libs want it all. They can't stand it that there is someone out here who disagrees with their twisted notion of a nation the founders would not even recognize. There are a couple of ways this could be done. For every hour Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity and others of their kind would be on the air, a liberal spokesman would get equal time, but with some recent bills brought up in Congress, the reinstatement of the Fairness Doctrine as it was in the past looks less likely, but certain sneaky members of Congress may try to replace it with something known as "diversity of ownership" or legislating that a goodly part of a stations broadcast day must be filled with local content which would limit the number of stations that the nationally syndicated shows like Rush and Hannity could be heard on. It's not that the liberal approach has not been tried on talk radio; it's just that they can't get anybody much to listen and the format keeps going broke. Remember Air America? I didn't think so; I've actually never heard it myself. It is a network devoted to radical liberal talk radio and it launched with stars like Al Franken and Janeane Garofalo manning the microphones. So, the liberals have their own radio network, the freedom to expound on any left wing message they so desire, they have the hopes and dreams of liberals everywhere, in fact they have it all… all, that is, except they just can't get people to listen to them. So the liberal talk radio network has fallen on its posterior and no one, except possibly George Soros or some other super rich left wing zealot, shows any interest in keeping it going. The radio station owners know that it's fiscal suicide because they have to have listeners to keep the doors open and liberal talk radio is just not going to do it. And if the stations are forced to add liberal talk show hosts, they're not going to attract enough of an audience to be profitable and the result could well force the stations to forsake a talk format completely rather than watch half their air time go into the red, and I wonder if that's not the real reason behind the fairness doctrine. The only place liberal radio continues undeterred is PBS, and that's not because they have that many listeners but because they are publically funded, in other words you and me foot most of the bill. It should also be noted that one of the biggest proponents of silencing or limiting conservative talk radio is Michigan Senator, Debbie Stabenow, who's husband just happens to be the Executive Vice President of the floundering Air America. If someone could explain to me how that is not a conflict of interest, I'd love to hear it. I think it's to the everlasting shame of the left wing in this country that they want to snuff out dissenting opinion. Is it because the airing of liberalism's left wing agenda as exposed by a right wing radio host brings to light just how many rights they want to take away from the American people? Or is it that, as Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck and other conservative voices prove every day that there are millions and millions of pro-God, pro-gun, anti-big government, pro-life, anti big tax, freedom loving Americans who refuse to swallow the socialism and secularism, who believe global warming is a pile of barnyard garbage? In fact, most of the liberal line which can be boiled down to one word…
Control.
Not now.
Not ever.
Not while there's a breath in my body.
Flush the "Fairness" Doctrine down the toilet, that's where it belongs.
What do you think?

"It Ain't Gonna Work, Barack"
You've got to hand it to Barack Obama and the Democrats. They blew into office and immediately started passing legislation and almost every day since they've passed their disastrous, pork-laden monstrosity, the stock market has steadily fallen. The stock market just is not buying what the Democrats are selling and can you blame them? Everything the Dems do is anti-business. Raising taxes during a recession is tantamount to stupidity. Cap and trade laws are nothing but a touchy-feely liberal concession to a non-existent global warming crisis. And ten years down the line the only difference it will make will be the catastrophic economic hangover it will leave. Raising taxes on the rich is a Democratic mantra almost as old as the party itself. It may sound like economic justice against greedy rich people, but guess who it really hurts? As always, just as excessive taxes on any bracket of wage earner hurts the working people, it discourages the part of the population who actually have the money to start a new company or expand an already existing one. Why should they risk their capital when the profit they may or may not make is going to be taxed to the point that it just isn't worth taking the risk? In my humble opinion, the meteoric downturn in the stock market has been fueled by two things:
1) The small investors got scared and bailed out a long time ago.
2) The big investors see no future in investing in companies that are either going to fail or become unprofitable in the Democratic anti-business atmosphere. The downright intransigence of the President and the Congress is making me think that they just simply don't care what "We The People" want or what we suffer through. Anybody with enough gray matter to get out of bed in the morning should have known that giving the car companies money was like trying to fill up a leaky bucket and prolonging the agony. Structured as they are now, there is no way General Motors can make it. They are just not going to be able to sell enough cars in today's competitive mileage conscience market to keep their corporate heads afloat. I love General Motors, in fact, I own three of their products, but with the entitlement burden they carry, they'll never be able to pull the load. Now, after having billions of our tax dollars poured down their corporate sump hole they're back with their hands out. At least one thing will come out of this situation, we will find out just how deep in bed the Democrats are with the automobile unions. If the President and Congress approve another bailout package for GM, you can kiss that money good-bye and start figuring out if these are really the people you want running this country. People, there is a full-fledged war going on in Mexico and none of our forward-looking, progressive representatives on Capitol Hill even have the temerity to mention it. Iran is rapidly approaching the day when they will fire an atomic weapon at Israel and the best Obama can do is send a really weak, in fact, pathetic signal through our good friends Russia. And while the world burns, Senator Pat Leahy and Congressman John Conyers want to start a witch-hunt into the Bush administration. I've got news for you guys, George Bush is no longer President and you've got much bigger fish to fry. I've even got a little piece of cowboy logic for you. Want to see a real, solid economic recovery? Cut taxes across the board. Payroll taxes, Social Security taxes, unemployment taxes, corporate taxes and all the other taxes you've piled on us over the years. If you'll do this, the economy will start to turn around the 15th of the month as people receive their paychecks and put the extra money right back into the economy. The way you're doing it will absolutely not work. How many trillions of dollars will you have to go into debt for before you learn that the economy cannot be turned around by the government, but only by the principle of a free market place unencumbered by socialistic government interference? Folks, these are not the actions of an experienced, take charge kind of a President, and we haven't even had a serious terrorist threat yet. But we will … We will. Using football terminology, it's third and long, the quarterback is a rookie, our starting offensive line is not in shape and the opposing team has a defense that would put the Pittsburgh Steelers to shame. And we just keep punting …
Welcome to the real world, President Obama.
What do you think?
Pray for our troops
God Bless America
