(What's a 3 day in-school suspension?)

This Dad Was Baffled After Being Told His Fourth-Grader ‘Brought a Weapon to School’ 'Then They Told Him What It Was'
It was your typical assignment for elementary school kids starting the year out and getting to know each other: "Bring in some of your favorite toys and do some sharing about them." So fourth-grader Ramsey McDonald of Warner Robins, Georgia, told his dad he’d be showing off his iPad and a couple of toys to his new classmates. It was all well and good to Scott McDonald — until he got a call from Miller Elementary School on Tuesday. “They told me my son brought a weapon to school and they asked me if I was aware,” McDonald told WMAZ-TV.
”I asked them what it was and they said it was a plastic Nerf gun.” McDonald told the station that he would’ve told his son to not take his blue, orange and green contraption had he known that was Ramsey’s plan. “He told me he didn’t know they would think it was a weapon or he wouldn’t have brought it to school,” McDonald said. The school originally gave the boy a three-day suspension, but McDonald told WMAZ the punishment was reduced to a three day in-school suspension. A district representative did not immediately return a request for comment from TheBlaze.

BLACKSTONE HOUSE OF HORRORS
This is perhaps one of the most bizarre stories I've heard in awhile. Four children ( two of them apparently no one was aware even existed) and two adults living in a house that was full of filth and dead animals. All of the children clearly neglected...the two youngest apparently severely neglected.
Then you have the remains of three dead infants and several animals found in the home. The woman, Erika Murray , has been arrested, charged with child endangerment and concealing fetal death ( apparently, actually, a victorian era crime of 'being an unmarried woman concealing fetal death').
The house is a cornucopia of filth...dirty diapers piled feet high, feces, rotting food all seem mild compared with the various rotting corpses found in the house.
For me..this story brings so many questions..not the least of which-
Why wasn't the man in the house charged? He is purported to be the father of at least 2 of the children..perhaps all of them. Is one really expected to suspend reality to such a level that we believe he knew nothing about what was happening in the house? He should be charged.
Why did it take this long for neighbors to call authorities? Did they completely ignore the smell of filth?..and if they did..the smell of a dead body is pretty distinctive and intolerable. The smell of several rotting bodies ( babies and animals) had to have been noticed. I mean..I pretty much mind my business..but if these kinds of smells were coming from my neighbor's home, I would be calling for a well-being check at least. Actually..as a mandated reporter, I would probably have placed a phone call sooner..but even so..an average person should have gotten involved.
It makes one wonder..what kinds of horrors go on behind the closed doors of our neighbors that go completely unnoticed.
